I’ve run many different scans on my computer but nothing seems to find any spyware on it. Internet explorer keeps opening up(i use firefox) to pages like party poker ourfreestuff.net and other stuff keeps on poping up. if no spyware or virus detecter can find any spyware then whats the problem?
i delete cookies from explorer often and im using firefox so why would explorer popups come while using firefox
i have a pop up blocker,im using the windows defender thing, avg, spybot and nod32
i have LOTS of those unwanted popup ads on the restricted sites but they still keep on coming up.I dont want any ideas on spyware or virus stuff because i have lots of them,i want to know how to prevent this from happening,if i delete internet explorer can i install it back again or will it ruin my computer?or how do i stop internet explorer from running completely

If you turn off your anti-virus software will it still be able to detect viruses—as it is not on real-time mode anymore? Because even if I turn off my virus software it tells me that I have a virus as if it is still protecting my computer while it’s off.

Like a Stupid person, I let a friends 5 year old play some games on my computer….he clicked on ALL the banners he saw! Some more then once! Now I have pop-ups galore and other search sites popping up! HELP ME……I have ran all these scans in Safe Mode: SpyWare Doctor, Spybot, Search & Destroy and Lavasoft. What other “FREE” scans can I run???

The George Bush Virus – Causes your computer to keep looking for viruses of mass destruction.
The John Kerry Virus – Stores data on both sides of the disk and causes little purple hearts to appear on screen.
The Clinton Virus – Gives you a permanent Hard Drive with NO memory.
The Al Gore Virus – Causes your computer to just keep counting and re-counting.
The Bob Dole Virus – Makes a new hard drive out of an old floppy.
The Lewinsky Virus – Sucks all the memory out of your computer, then e-mails everyone about what it did.
The Arnold Schwarzenegger Virus – Terminates some files, then leaves, but will be back.
The Mike Tyson Virus – Quits after two bytes.
The Oprah Winfrey Virus – Your 200 GB hard drive shrinks to 100 GB, then slowly expands to re-stabilize around 300 GB.
The Ellen Degeneres Virus – Disks can no longer be inserted.
The Prozac Virus – Totally screws up your RAM, but your processor doesn’t care.
And last but not least:
The Lorena Bobbitt Virus – Reformats your hard drive into a 3.5 inch floppy … then discards it through Windows.

When I go on the internet, after like 5 minutes of being on there, ads start popping up. Sometimes the internet just freezes when I’m on a page. Or sometimes, I’m listening to my iTunes and an internet window isn’t open but the pop ups still come up. This only started happening like a week ago, before that my internet was fine. Has this ever happened to you? I think it might be a virus or maybe adware or something. I don’t want to restore my computer to the factory settings, so does anyone know of any good antivirus program or adware blocker or something?

Can I get a straight answer about XP printer and file sharing security?
Posted by admin under Other - Hardware[4] Comments
Why don’t you look at my network configuration first: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b238/sr111/network1.png
What I want:
I want to share my folders via Windows printer and file sharing (NOT some P2P app) but I do not want my folders to be accessible outside my network (aka, the internet.)
How it’s configured:
I’ve set up my shared folders to be read-only, that is, there’s a 0% chance I can get “infected” with a virus, worm, trojan, etc. The only thing I am worried about is unauthorized views from someone other than my friends. The router acts as a hardware firewall and 0 ports are being forwarded.
I just get annoyed because M$ technet and about every security guide I’ve read always recommends you turn off file sharing because of a risk of “remote viewing.” Is there something I haven’t considered? Is there a way to log *exactly* who is accessing the folders?

All my mcafee expired 5 days ago..I just found out help how can I protect computer for free?
Posted by admin under Other - Computers[5] Comments
All my mcafee expired 5
My kids got me computer..must have done a 90 day trial..was out of town –today my computer said these four things expired 4 days ago.
McAfee SpamKiller,
McAfee Privacy Service
McAfee Personal Firewall Plus
McAfee VirusScan
It show my antiabuse, anti virus, and antispam killer as red (only antihacker index still is green)
Virus span is disabled; personal firewall plus are still protected, while privacy service and spamkiller are expired.
Are there any free comparable protections out there..also to reinstate all, how much is it..is it $29.95 for each one or for all of them?
If you give a free program, do you have link for download..is it permantly free or temporary?
Please help.
Is this true..I heard if you have too many downloads, if messes up computer or if you have program similar to Mcafee, more than one messes it up. I am worried it might make things worst. Is this a concern?

We have a computer on Win 2K, and it was infected with some malware. I think there was more than one. The malware kept changing the homepage and inserting a toolbar.
I installed AVG anti virus and anti spyware, and scanned the computer with both programs. Anti-spyware found some malware and deleted them.
But now, when I open internet explorer 7, the program freezes. I can’t even click on Tools to set the homepage.
How do I fix this?
